BBQ Abalone with Garlic and Butter



Ingredients 

  • 6 Blanched & Chilled Greenlip Abalone - whole or finely sliced in 2-3 mm pieces
  • 2 garlic cloves, crushed
  • 2 tablespoons of butter
  • 1 lemon
  • Salt and pepper to taste
Preparation:

  • Step 1: Use a clean BBQ and preheat to medium-high heat
  • Step 2: Finely slice the abalone, or if preferred, leave whole.
  • Step 3: Prepare the crushed garlic, but use sparingly so it doesn’t overpower the flavour of the abalone.
  • Step 4: Add the abalone slices, garlic and butter to the BBQ and cook for 30 seconds on the hotplate, taking care not to burn the garlic or abalone. If using whole abalone, remove from the shell and place on the hotplate to cook for 2.5 minutes on each side and then remove.
  • Step 5: Remove the abalone from the heat, transfer back into the abalone shell and season with salt, pepper and a generous squeeze of lemon.
